Be the Change Exposition 2013
The 4th Annual Be the Change Exposition was an incredible success! Dozens of activities, unique performances, meaningful talks, and dynamic workshops combined to create an unforgettable day for 720students, teachers and other participants who turned out to discover what “I CAN!”means for Singapore.
Design for Change is a global movement involving thousands of students in 34 countries around the world. SoCh in Action is the Singaporean conduit for Design for Change's Be the Change projects, which is how the Be the Change Exposition started in Singapore four years ago. Throughout the year, SoCh trains and mentorsschools students in imagining, designing, and implementing social change projects, with the Be the Change Exposition serving as a celebration of their fine achievements.
*SCAPE’s “Ground Theatre” was filled with partners from various NGOs and social enterprises who ran booths hosting activities centered on the Be YOU-nique theme. These activities were all based on individuality, appreciating differences, self-image, and these kinds of "YOU-nique" qualities that make individuals, individuals! Students not only had fun but also had a chance to introspect and appreciate others -- the aging, migrants, those of different abilities, religions, races, socioeconomic classes, the list goes on!
Along withschool project displays and interactive activities, special performances included remarkable vocal and beatboxpieces by the A Cappella Society’s Youth Voices, an awe-inspiring magic circus show by Event Magic, a remarkable Cajon drum circle by BEAT’ABOX, and a profound talk on gender and beauty by AWARE.
Participation at the Be the Change Exposition just keeps growing, and we have already started on the road to planning for Design for Change School Challenge 2014 and BTC 2014! Together, we can keep the Change alive in Singapore. Together, WE CAN!
